Hilarious Comedy Video -- The Clapper Caper

Now, y'all know I love a good joke -- especially one told by a good comedian...but a good routine done by a good comedian is medicine for the soul! This video is absolutely hilarious -- Jack Webb and Johnny Carson! I can't resist posting it immediately!! Watch, listen, laugh and enjoy!!

Note: If you cannot view this video, YouTube is apparently having a hard time -- come back and try again later. Or, just go to the video itself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pWBJiW0Xpo

Random Ramblings

OK, so now being established at my new bloggie home, Cowgirl For Jesus, I am waiting for everyone else to figure out that I'm here... hint hint...

Went to the eye doctor today, found out that my eyes have really not changed at all in over a year, so I have the same prescription of contact lenses! Praise the Lord for that! :)

Things are going well over here. I have plans for the summer, but I do not want to reveal these until after they have already happened...suffice it to say that I will probably not be posting much in the month of July... ;)

Well, we had a cold snap for a little while, but now it's pretty much back to being warm again...blegh... I grew up in Phoenix, AZ -- I'm tired of the heat! I guess I went to the wrong place to stay away from the heat, although here in Southern California, it's a little cooler than in Arizona...or Texas...or anyplace like that.

We're back to classes again, after our Spring Break. Unfortunately yesterday I couldn't really do anything in ballet class, because I had twisted my ankle the other day and it really started hurting while warming up for ballet, so I had to sit out on pretty much all of it. I did do a little near the end, when the whole class was learning a new step, I just walked through it instead of doing the whole graceful, point-your-toes, etc. sort of stuff, but then when they added a chasse (a skip and a jump) to it, I couldn't join in for fear of hurting my ankle more. :( Everything else went pretty well.

I will post soon about the lemon meringue pie, and Lady Elizabeth...just a preview, a few hints to keep you hanging! :)

Well, I had better end this rambling, meaningless post...that's the fun of blogs, you know? You can post pretty much anything you want to, and you will probably still have friends somewhere out there that will read it and maybe even comment on it! :D

So long for now!
:)

Safety Tips for Women

I got this in an email recently sent to me, and thought I'd post it for everybody to read and consider. Please use your discretion and common sense, and your conscience and the leading of the Holy Spirit, whenever in any sort of dangerous situation!! Do not feel like you have to follow the things written here just because people say them -- do what you know the Lord wants you to do. All the same, it is good to know about these things so that you are aware of them.

10 Safety Tips:

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide:
If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you. Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc) DON'T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS
AND LEAVE. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head, DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it. As soon as the car crashes, bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot or parking garage:

A.) Be aware: Look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.
B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side... If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY (and better paranoid than dead).

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. Stairwells are horrible places to be and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit a running target 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN! Preferably in a zig-zag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic.
STOP.
It may get you raped or killed.
Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man - who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked 'for help' into or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another safety point:
Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her, "Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, "We already have a unit on the way, DO NOT open the door." He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear a baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.

10. Water scam!
If you wake up in the middle of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a burst pipe - DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your outside taps full blast so that you will go outside and then they attack.

Stay alert, keep safe, and look out for your neighbors!
Please pass this on

This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby Theory was mentioned on America's Most Wanted when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana.

Same blog, new name!

Yep, I've decided to take my little bloggity and move to a new home. From now on, I will be here at Cowgirl For Jesus. It's the same blog, I just decided to move the location and change the name. I've been thinking it over for some time, and I'm finally ready to do so. I was also considering going completely private, but I have decided not to do that at this time...perhaps later though. For now, it's just a new name and domain name, but nothing else should look any different. I will leave this blog up and running for another two or three weeks, just in case I forget to tell somebody and they come to the old site. Enjoy, folks! :)

Happiness Is...

When your 16-month-old niece comes over for a visit.

We had a potluck after church, and after that we kidnapped A and took her home with us. She was so tired, she fell asleep on the car and was easily transferred right over to my parents’ bed for a good 30-40 minute nap. Here’s Sleeping Beauty – isn’t she precious? And ya gotta love the woodsy sheets... :)

When she woke up, she was in unfamiliar surroundings, and at first she thought she was completely alone (she looked to her left – if she’d looked to her right she’d of seen Auntie B sitting on the bed with her, reading!), which brought on a moment of panicked crying, which took the powers of both CG and Auntie B to soothe. But once she realized she was OK, that we were there and that everything was fine, she was ready for an adventure – exploring the house. We started with Skeeter, who was right there on the bed. A wasn’t too sure about the kitty...

...but that’s OK, because kitty wasn’t too sure about A, either!

Having ‘discovered’ the kitty, she was ready to explore the rest of the house...down the hall...

In the living room...oh, there’s that kitty again! Howdy, and how do you do again? (bonus points for naming the movie that quote is from)

The kitchen is an interesting place...

Ooooooh, look at all those pots and pans! Those would be fun to play with!

I loves that face!!! Don’t you just want to shmush her?!!

She discovered a little blue ball – a cat toy, but don’t tell her that...

...and decided to put it in her mouth...

...which was really very funny-looking...

...but she didn’t like it when I laughed!

I realized later that this photo is probably a pretty accurate prediction of what she’ll look like in another three or four years. Kind of interesting, isn’t it?

Isn’t that just the sweetest smile??!!

After a little while, we decided to go down the park (with CG, the noted photographer, in tow!). We have a very nice little park just down the street from us.

We played on the swings...

And the slides...

There was a fun tunnel to go through...

This park also has these real interesting metal funnel kind of things. There’s a little hole at the bottom, and she became fascinated with letting sand pour through the hole. We eventually moved on to sitting in the sand and playing in it, and I also buried her legs in the sand (which she thought was fascinating), but we didn’t get any photos of that.

A few videos:

I will leave you with this photo. This is just such a precious, A-face...I love this face, I love this baby...more than I ever thought I could love a baby not my own. I can’t wait to have nephews too, but this niece will always be very very precious to me. Aunt B loves you, sweetheart.

Ballet Recital

I'll post the pictures from Ariana's visit in another day or two, but for now, here's my midterm ballet recital. The redhead is Thomasina, the brunette (it's dark brown, not black) is Jessica, and then I'm the blonde in the back. Since I was the least experienced of the three of us, I ended up doing the least! :) But it went really well. Jessica messed up her feet on the left side, but she covered it well, and other than that there were no major mistakes. Here, for your enjoyment, is the video! :D

This Is NORMAL

Or, conversely, I could've titled it: Don't Worry, That Last Post WASN'T Normal.

Sorry about that last 'crabby' post. Just one of those 'female' days...sorry about that. And yes, I am really alive. And not usually that crabby. Really. Sorry about that. I really try not to let that much ickiness spill over into other things like, you know, blogging and such. And yes, after much arm-wrestlin', and tough cowgirl determination and perseverance, I finally managed to get Blogger to go the way I wanted, got my margins the way I wanted them, and even ended up with a halfway-decent header, despite my dad's computer's horrible lack of beautiful fonts. And if this post is sounding somewhat incoherent, check it off to the Deaf event.

I don't know if I mentioned to y'all that I'm in ASL3 now (American Sign Language, that is). As with every ASL class so far, we have to do Deaf events -- where we go somewhere public and talk only in sign, without using our voices (if we can't get the point across in ASL, then using fingerspelling, gesturing, writing things, anything we can - except our voices). Also, I don't think I mentioned that I finally talked my mom into taking an ASL1 (from Dr. T of course, who else??), so she came with us to our Deaf event. We just went to a Mimi's Cafe and signed and ate a little -- Mom and I, and Nana Lauda (previously known as Miss Laura, however we have adopted each other and she is now my grandmother - it's a long story), and Katie, Mindy, and Therese. Later Nana Lauda's daughter Miss Gina also came over, as well as Therese's sister Mary. (Isn't that name Therese pretty? It's just like 'Theresa' only without the last 'ah')

We had a great time, talking about everything under the sun -- in ASL! We had some interesting moments, some misunderstandings -- for instance, Mindy was talking about the song that was playing in the restaurant (yeah I know, we were supposed to be Deaf, but oh well), and she's trying to say something about dancing to it, or at least swaying to it, but she's not thinking about what she's actually saying in ASL, so I look over and she's making the sign for FISH. Which totally confused me, and then she talked to me about her brother's fish, who's name is some character from H@rry Potter (which I don't read!), but she calls it LV... Katie made some joke that I totally didn't get and had to have it explained... My mom nearly smacked me because I teased her (saying I wasn't sure why I brought her along), and she said that I loved her and I made a facial expression like "I'm not sure" (everyone CRACKED UP!!), and Mom starts poking/smacking me as we're laughing like crazy (she teases me like that all the time, but I'm really only just starting to learn how to relax and tease with people, I always take things so seriously, so it was a surprise to be teasing like that). So yeah, it was really fun -- but by the time we were done, I was tired and slightly punch-drunk (or should I say strawberry-lemonade-drunk?).

So that's why I might be rambling, slightly incoherent...in other words, sounding more like my old self! This is normal for me -- not that last post!

At the moment, I'm enjoying some great country music from a playlist over on a blog that's new to me, BlackJack Land and Cattle Company. Lately I've been exploring, finding out there are a whole lot more 'good' blogs out there than I ever knew! :)

Manes and Tails is absolutely awesome, I'm lovin' every minute of it, and next to Sunday, Saturday is now the highlight of my week. As a matter of fact, I don't know if I mentioned before, I actually got to lead a group last week, because a couple leaders were not in (one was out of town, I think one was sick), and as a Junior Leader I'm in line for command as soon as a position opens. Right now they have all the leaders they need, but as soon as there's an opening I'm in line for it. I really don't care about the money (the Leader position is paid), although it would be nice because this is keeping me from getting a different job on Saturdays. Frankly, I'm just lovin' it being part of the program -- I mean, seriously, it's kids and horses, HOW GOOD DOES IT GET??!! Plus, I think (I haven't confirmed this yet, but I think) that my boss is probably a Christian! At any rate, I'm having an awesome time.

I have a lot more that I could ramble on about, but I probably shouldn't right now...I need to be getting on to bed soon...so I will have to continue this good rambly incoherent post later on... Let me just reassure you one more time -- this is normal, not the last post! :D

I'm still alive!

Well, I'm here, I'm alive. Sorry I haven't posted in quite some time, been rather busy. And right now I'm struggling to put a new background on the silly thing. I mean, it's springtime, time to be done with the warm snuggly denim background that I've had since AUTUMN...I mean, yeah, I love the denim, but I'm ready for something bright and springy. And I found the CUTEST designs at Knotty Moose Designs, particularly Too Sweet and Made In The Shade -- I can't decide which! But at the moment, my stubborn blog is not wanting to let go of the old Cutest Blog On the Block background, and not letting me put in the new background!! I'm rather frustrated -- which isn't hard, considering the crampy, crabby mood I'm in (can you tell what time of the month it is for me?? Hmm?).

At any rate (I love that phrase, don't you?), I really shouldn't fill up the first post I've done in DAYS with nothing but crabby nonsense when I don't really have anything to be crabby about, and really have MUCH to be thankful for!! So, feeling penitent for my snappy crabby mood, I will now list three things I am VERY thankful for:

1. My family. You might say, 'Well duh, that's a given'...but no really, I keep being reminded that family shouldn't be taken for granted. Enough said. Also, I am thankful for my 'adopted' family -- big sisters and little sisters, niece and coming nephews!

2. Nephews. Did you notice I said nephews?? Yes!! Not only is Melonee having a baby boy, but I have recently adopted another big sister and brother-in-law, and they are expecting their bubbie in July! His name will be Jeremiah Esmelion. And no, no names yet for Daniel and Melonee's baby.

3. For being blessed with being able to work for Manes and Tails -- next to going to church on Sunday, Saturday is now the highlight of my week!!

If I think about it, I can list several more...but I have dishes to be done with and then I'm getting myself off to bed. Don't worry about me if I go another week or two without posting -- I'm horribly busy at the moment, and spending pretty much every blogging moment I get to read other people's blogs, so I may not get around to posting for awhile. :)

P.S. For those of you who know Jen (aka RanchRaisedGirl), Quintin is here -- RanchGirl had her baby!

P.P.S. As you can see, I finally got the new background over! It needs some work, so sorry for the condition it's in right now -- I'll get to it when I find time! :)
