Yep, that's exactly what I did. Yesterday my mother and I were on a bicycle ride in a nice Open Space near us with a good blacktop path through it. Going downhill is fun if you're a good rider, and I'm usually pretty good at it. I was doing fine, just like any other time, until I hit the little section at the end of the path where several cracks in the blacktop are raised. O.K., I know better than to hit those cracks going fast, and I usually slow down enough to make it safely over them. I forgot. The front wheel began to fishtail and I lost control, skidding a little ways and coming to rest with a roll, finally stopping and finding myself lying on the ground, my pants ripped and sudden aches and pains all over.
Of course it nearly gave my mom a heart attack coming around the bend behind me and seeing me sitting on the ground hunched over. The bicycle is fine, the chain came off, the seat went crooked, and the brake handles got chewed up, but it will be O.K. Me, I'm just thanking God I wasn't hurt worse. I could've broken bones. As it is one knee is scraped and burned raw, and today I'm sore in a lot of places, but it could've been much, much worse.
At any rate, that means I'm stuck being somewhat sedentary for awhile, as moving around is rather painful. And so I've learned my lesson: slow down when you hit the raised cracks, and don't think you're invincible.
We're still under some construction at the moment, so if something looks odd to you, or if you cannot see all of my text or something goofy like that, please please please leave me a comment to let me know about it!! Thanks so much! :)
God bless!

Smack Dab in the Middle of Summer
Nobody can say summer isn't here...at least, not here in California! Now granted, it was a little cooler yesterday, and a bit humid, but it's definitely summer. At least it doesn't get as hot here as it does in Phoenix -- whewee! I still miss my friends in Phx but I sure don't miss the heat!
I can't stay long, must be moving on... (hey, that rhymes!) A few things must be done in the cool of the morning before the heat catches up to us :-)

A New Week...
How exciting!
When you think about it, it really is exciting: a whole new, fresh week ahead... There are probably plans made for the week, but it's still new, still fresh. Sort of like suspense in a book or movie: what will the week hold? All of life is like that, sort of. I reckon God was pretty wise not to let us foresee the future: sort of like a surprise, you don't know what will happen. I guess if we knew, we'd set our focus on that, not on trusting God for each new week, each new day, each new moment.
So what are the plans for the week? Probably busyness, and more busyness...the weeks seem to go so fast! Just flying by...
Before I go, I'll add in a recent picture of me. Several weeks ago my mother and aunt and I went to the San Diego Zoo, and this was taken there. If you guys want, I can post a few pictures of the animals too, but for now I'll just put up this picture of me. :-)
By the way, I want to add a little side note: I just discovered http://voxveterana.com, a blog by 2 American soldiers, telling what's really going on over there. Let's help them get the message out by sharing the link so that other people read and learn.
Well, I'll be going now...other things to attend to.

Free Time
O.K., so I just posted yesterday and I don't really have much to say... I just like having a place where I can say whatever I'm thinking -- and other people are actually interested in listening!
So I have some free time, and my thoughts are busy... August 4th I'm having another yard sale (I say 'another' because I had one June 23rd) and things must be ready. Right after that is camp, and after that? Still more things to do, places to go, people to see. Sort of like a slogan, but very true.
Somebody asked me if I do any stitching or other crafting. I do hope I don't offend anybody, but I detest sewing in any of its many forms. Crafting I can deal with, and can be quite creative when I want to be. But sewing...bleegh. Sorry. I do like to look at a nice quilt, and snuggle under it. My mother is quite a quilter (now that should be somebody's slogan: Quite a Quilter....hmmm), as are a few other people I know. You know, I like looking at the pretty quilts, and fabric, and all that; just don't make me do it myself.
I just finished reading a book by Stephen Bly: Memories of a Dirt Road Town, the first of the Horse Dreams series. Bly is my favorite author; his specialty is Christian westerns. He's written more books than you can shake a stick at, besides being a pastor, and the mayor of Winchester, Idaho. Busy man! I've read most of his books, and greatly enjoy them (I can recite passages from heart!).
Well, I need to end this and be going. I don't have that much free time. ;-)

Oh Boy!
Hi again, everybody! Thanks for the nice comments some people have been making. I'll try to answer some of them.
But first, the reason I titled it 'Oh Boy!': We were just out with a dear family friend, who blessed us with the funds for some clothing, some specifically for camp. Thank You, Lord.
Yes, Makepeace belongs to a friend, not to me... :-( Someday...
And the picture in my first blog is of me and my Baby...actually, her name is Casey. She answers to Casey, and Case, and Baby, and Dog... We got her from the pound in Tucson, AZ, and therefore have to guess what breed she is. Maybe Lab/Catahula mix? We just call her All-American! Her boyfriend's name is Dax; he's a big black lab sweet as can be.
The camp I'm going to is Ironwood Camp, I can't remember the URL to give you a link, but you can find it through Google or another search engine. A lot of the kids from our old church back in Yucca Valley, CA, go to this camp, including some of my best friends. From what they tell me, it will be a lot of fun. Ironwood is a Baptist Christian camp, very good. I can't wait! Less than a month away...
Before I take off again (things to do, places to go, people to see), I want to thank my dear Aunt Moira for passing the address of my blog along. The pics of your house look really good...can we come visit you?
Well, I gotta go, so I'll post again later.

Here Again
Hi again! Daddy and I just checked the oil on our two family cars, so I have the afternoon free. I figured I'd put something new on here...just what I don't know. It's not like anything particularly major is going on right now...
Next month, however, I'm going to camp: August 6-11. The first time I've ever been away from both my parents for more than a weekend. It should be very exciting!
Well, not much more to say at the moment, so I'll bid a fond farewell for now.

My First Blog Posting
Hi everybody! Well, since this is my first post, I'm not really sure where to begin, but I guess I'll just jump in feet first.
I named this blog Daddy's Girl, because it has two meanings:
- That I'm the daughter of my loving earthly daddy
- That I'm the daughter of my loving Heavenly Daddy
The description I gave the blog, Where I pour out my thoughts, ideas, and goofiness, seems rather appropriate, because, simply put, that's exactly what I'm going to do! Simple enough.
I think I'll include in this first post a picture of my Baby and me:

Well, I'm still trying to figure out how this all works. At least right now Daddy's Girl is a work in progress. It won't do what I want it to do! How do you experienced, veteran bloggers get it to do all that fancy stuff?! At any rate, that's enough for now, I've got to figure out what I'm doing!
